Brusha, Brusha, Brusha

I know I've been super-boring lately, and I'm really sorry -- and I'm also afraid this post isn't going to help much. I feel like this is the longest week that ever was: too much going on, too many things to do, too little sleep. Plus we're battening down the hatches to prepare for the coming SNOWPOCALYPSE NOW! again, which is supposed to start later today.

Which, by the way, screw the eggs and bread and milk. If I'm going to be snowed in like the Donner Party, I am not going to be making French toast. I want Fritos and that bright orange "cheez" popcorn and grape soda and Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs. Junk food. Frozen burritos and Hot Pockets and lunch meat and Screaming Yellow Zonkers, which they don't even make any more.

So. Anyway. I am really looking forward to the end of next week, because on Thursday and Friday we're going on our "winter vacation" and then I have a company holiday the following Monday for Presidents' Day, so I will have five whole days off from work and believe me, I am looking forward to it in ways I can't possibly describe in English. Perhaps I can do an interpretive dance? Perhaps if you plied me with alcohol first? I like my vodka tonics with wedges of lime and lemon.

Hopefully over the weekend I'll be able to get some cute pictures of Shae in the snow, but in the meantime, I hope this little video will do.

And now I will sing for you a little song that will undoubtedly get stuck in your head forever and ever, amen:
Brusha, brusha, brusha
Get the new Ipana
With the brand new flavor
It's dandy for your teeth!
Hey -- just be glad I didn't start singing "It's Fun to Brush Your Teeth!" all Plex-style.

In Your Eyes

So Shae got her "cramera" for Christmas (and BTW, that video still cracks me up: "A! New! CAMERAAAAH!"), and before yesterday I took pictures off it exactly once. I should do it more often, because it's highly instructive and educational. For example, last night I learned that Shae really likes to take pictures of the TV. Not sure if one particular show is especially fascinating to her, though, because they're not necessarily pictures of what's on the TV -- just, like, corners and strange flashes of light.

Daddy, Purple

She also likes to take pictures of my husband and/or my husband's laptop, I'm not sure which. He sits on the right side of the couch while she watches her shows on TV. I don't know how she did this with her camera -- maybe G was in the middle of something extra-colorful in WoW when she shot this? But this picture is completely untouched by editing software. I think it's fascinating.

Dora Shoes

Another favorite is shoes -- there are pictures of every single pair of shoes she owns, I think. Which is approximately 150,000 different pairs of Crocs. (No, it's only like 6 of them.) She has also taken pictures of my shoes, and my husband's, and also random people-on-the-street's. I must have let her take her camera with her when she went for a walk with my parents or something, and Shae took pictures of every shoe she saw, I think.

Skype!

Of all the pictures, though, I think this one is my very favorite, because it's just so "meta." What you're seeing here is a picture of a video call. Exciting, right? So, with her crappy little camera, she took pictures of a computer monitor showing pictures of my sister, brother-in-law, and nephew who were being filmed by a webcam. You can almost see Joey's little teeny pieces of pizza. Like I said: very meta.

Still ... I make fun of these pictures, but more than a month after Christmas she is still entertained by the camera, so I think it was an excellent buy, even if I did pay (GASP!) full retail for it. When we went out after work last Friday to take pictures of the "pink" moon, she grabbed her camera and brought it too. And seriously, her pictures are no better or worse than mine, just taken with a different camera. There may be hope for her yet.

"LOST" - Final Season Premiere Recap

NO. FUCKING. IDEA.

I have watched every minute of this show since Episode One. Every single second. Every frame. Most episodes were watched in "real time" which means that I have followed this show through every different time period it has occupied on the prime-time schedule. I have stayed up until well past midnight some nights, discussing WTF happened with my husband. This is the final season on this show, according to the producers. We were promised answers.

And still I have NO. FUCKING. IDEA.

[Possible spoilers, duh. - Ed.] Some people are dead? Maybe? Or maybe they're not? Maybe God is dead, or Paul? Wasn't it Paul that everyone said was dead when they dropped their acid and played their Beatles records backwards? And maybe there are two versions of the same timeline happening at once? Or else it's two different timelines that are going to converge? Or not? How does Richard keep his eyeliner looking so perfect without looking like a hot ghetto tranny mess? And maybe this is an Epic Battle Between Good And Evil? But who is good, and who is evil? Or maybe it's really about backgammon? Or was that Armageddon? And Jesus Christ, what the hell happened to the goddamn dog?

I think I need to watch this show when I am drunk. Maybe then I'll understand. But I'll keep watching.

Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo

It's so cold and gray and blech and disgusting, plus that damned groundhog saw his shadow so six more weeks of this nonsense, and yadda yadda cabin fever fly to St. Somewhere, and so ... hey, look, something shiny!

Fairy Godchild

Well look who it is -- our friendly neighborhood fairy! In a tutu and a crown and her princess shoes and waving around a pinwheel like a wand, even though she really has no idea what she's supposed to be doing, because her mother forced her to do this, because sweet cracker sandwich, there is nothing going on in our house until "Lost" comes on tonight.

Abby Cadabby

We're a little unclear on the actual duties of a fairy, too. Abby Cadabby on "Sesame Street" can turn stuff into pumpkins, but Shae says she doesn't like pumpkins, so ... mostly we just blow on the pinwheel and giggle. Or let Mommy blow on the pinwheel while Shae tries to knock me over. (I wish there was a magical spell I could cast to get us over the hump with the potty training.)

Hard Work

It's a lot of work, being a fairy princess! Don't let the cute crown fool you.

Manic Monday

Short post today, because we did a whole lot of nothing over the weekend. Visited with my mother-in-law and my parents and grandparents on Saturday, took a whole bunch of pictures for my Project 365, but didn't take any pictures of Shae. This was a deliberate choice: I want her to be able to enjoy herself without the paparazzi popping out from every corner with a flashbulb, and also the paparazzi is so very very tired.

We stayed home yesterday, did laundry, watched a movie ("G-Force," which was just about what you expected, if you heard anything about it), took a nap, went potty, made meatloaf and homemade mashed potatoes, played WoW (earned 5 achievements yesterday, including finally finishing "Northrend Dungeon Hero" by somehow ending up in a random PuG that didn't quit that bitch as soon as The Oculus loading graphic appeared).

Anyway. Here is a picture from Friday, when we all went down to the park in the freezing cold so that I could get a picture of the pink moon, which wasn't pink any more by the time we loaded up the car, got Shae's camera, ran around the bases, etc.

Bonus Fun

God, I love my life.
