WTF!? Friday: Pocket Instamatic

Hello, and welcome to Masterpiece Theater ... oh. Wait. Forgot where I was for a second. Lemme start over, k?

{ much throat-clearing and self-heckling }

Heya, and welcome to my crappy blog! Today I am introducing a new Friday feature called "WTF!? Friday" which will hopefully be intermingled with my "Trivia Friday" feature if I ever remember to do any again. ANYWAY. "WTF!? Friday" is where I take a random picture from one of my photo folders, ask G to pick a random number, and post that picture with limited comments or commercial interruptions.

If I do things correctly, the "WTF!? Friday" picture will be a cruddy one, where you all can try to figure out WTF I was thinking when I took it, or WTF Shae was doing, or whatever. And today's picture is exactly that kind if picture, because I cannot for the life of me figure out WTF happened to make this picture of my two-year-old kid look like it was taken 30 years ago with a 110-mm Kodak Pocket Instamatic.

(Rounded edges added in post-production, just because I wanted to run with this old-school-picture theme, but I swear to God, the photo is otherwise unretouched.)

For the record and in the interest of full disclosure, this was from the "July 04-09" photo folder, and there are 247 shots in that folder (why is no doubt related to why my hard drive is like 75% full and my computer runs like total ass when I am playing WoW and stuck in Dalaran). The Magic Number was 39, but I already blogged photo #39, so I went with #37 instead. Because I'm the mom, that's why.

  1. Yeah, I was wondering what happened to Trivia Friday. I sort of liked it.

    But I've not been a good blogger in awhile, life is too hectic to put into words right now.

    Anyway. Cute pics, as always.

    And as an aside story, when I was little I loved water, I loved to swim! When I was 5 or 6 it was time for summer swim lessons. After a couple of weeks, mom went in with me to see how I was doing. The teacher told her, "We're so excited, SMurF finally got into the pool just a couple of days ago!!" Mom took me home and taught me to swim instead. Apparently I either didn't like or didn't trust that teacher!

  2. lol i used to lifeguard at a community pool and i actually had parents follow me to the Y in the winter because "nobody else" could teach their kid to swim. kids learn pretty early to trust - or distrust! - their teachers.
