Catch the Phever
So ... Wednesday's game was pretty exciting, huh? Sure, there was Roy "Doc-tober" Halladay's no-hitter, which I guess is kind of a big deal (snerk), but you know what's even more important than history? Shae's boy Shane Victorino got a double, a stolen base, and a run, all in the first inning.
All great moments start with just a single step, right? Or, in this case, a double.
Oh, yeah, baby, we're feeling the love in our house. And after what we saw on Wednesday? You better believe we'll be watching to see what happens now. It's a good time to be a Phillies phan. Be there tonight, 6:07 PM, TBS. We've all got high hopes up in this joint.

Let's Do This Thang
It's the playoffs, baby! Four-peat NL East Champion Philadelphia Phillies start their NL pennant defense tonight against the Reds. Game starts at 5:07 PM on TBS. It's on like Donkey Kong, and WE ARE READY.
And if you have a few spare minutes, why don't you vote for Shane Victorino, this year's Phillies nominee for the 2010 Roberto Clemente Award? Here's the Story
Of a girl named Shaezie, and her visit with two very hungry bears. One of them had hair of gray, one a 'fro head, and the little one went "Whee! Whee! Whee!" all day long at the park. (Sorry, paradigm shift without a clutch, there.)
Thursday
Marshmallow and Candy came home with me after school on Thursday, September 30th. It was a rainy night, so we stayed inside and watched some television. We all really enjoyed “Phineas and Ferb” and talked about whether Candace Flynn will ever “bust” her little brothers. (We don’t think so!)
My Visit with Marshmallow and Candy

I got to visit with Marshmallow and his sister Candy from Thursday, September 30, 2010 until Sunday, October 3, 2010. We all had a lot of fun! Here are some pictures from our visit.Thursday
Marshmallow and Candy came home with me after school on Thursday, September 30th. It was a rainy night, so we stayed inside and watched some television. We all really enjoyed “Phineas and Ferb” and talked about whether Candace Flynn will ever “bust” her little brothers. (We don’t think so!)
Friday
On Friday Marshmallow and Candy stayed home while I went to school. When I got home, we had dinner, watched some more T.V., and then we had a slumber party! But we all need a little bit of practice because we were all asleep by 9:00.
My parents only complained about the noise a couple of times. We must be doing something wrong. Like I said: we need more practice.
Saturday
On Saturday Marshmallow and Candy came with me while we did our “visiting” – we went to see my grandparents and make sure the “old folks” were staying out of trouble. We played a little bit of hide-and-seek …
… and then we went to one of my very favorite places in the world: the playground. Oh, how we loved the playground! It was very exciting. We couldn’t go on the slide because it was wet at the bottom …
… but we did get to go on the swings. Marshmallow and Candy both told me that the swings were their favorite part.
We also blew bubbles with my friend Anthony. He thought Marshmallow and Candy were awesome.
Saturday was a very busy day, and Marshmallow, Candy, and I all slept in the car on our way home. We only woke up once, when we stopped for a hot fudge sundae.
Sunday
Sunday was the last day that I spent with Marshmallow and Candy. In the morning we went to the store, then after a short nap (grocery shopping is exhausting!), Marshmallow and Candy helped me with my homework: we decorated a pumpkin with chalk, glitter glue, and goo-goo eyes for school.
I really had a nice time visiting with Marshmallow and Candy, and I hope they can come home with me again soon!

Break in the Weather
It rained last week, and it's raining again today, but we had a lovely weekend and I got some really cute pictures of Shae with Marshmallow and Candy. Tomorrow I will reprint the story I wrote about the weekend, but I thought I would share some "out-takes" first. Just because.
On the one hand, she wanted me to take this picture of her outfit on Friday. On the other hand, I have no idea why. (Dig the sexxilous Christmas door mat / rug inside our front door. We're no longer behind the times, but ahead of them!)
For part of the time while we were at the playground, Candy was my photography assistant, which means I stuffed her in my bag while I was taking pictures of Shae on the teeter-totter with Marshmallow.
Accidental lucky pose. I wanted to try to encourage Shae to sit in the grass with the bears and pretend to have a little picnic, but preschoolers are like cats: you can't make them do anything they don't want to do, and sometimes they pee on the rug. Anyway, this picture is pretty and warm and a little sad, like a nice bright day at the tail end of summer, when you can feel the damp and the cold on the breeze. (Plus, teeny-tiny strawberries are cute.)
We had homework this weekend, too. I don't have much in the way of art supplies because Shae doesn't often want to get excited and make things, but I did have some chalk, glitter glue, and goo-goo eyes left over from the lobster Halloween costume from a few years ago (2005 or 2006, I think). It looked better when it was fully dry, of course, but it's not bad for a 3-year-old. She definitely strikes me as the chaotic-creative Jackson Pollock type, without the alcoholism and bipolar disorder.

Marshmallow World
We have house guests for the weekend, and fortunately they are not of the Mus musculus variety, but instead small specimens from the family Ursidae. Bears.
Specifically, Shae's classroom bears, Marshmallow and his sister Candy. Prizes that she gets to keep for the weekend because she was last week's classroom Star of the Week in Preschool 1. (Hello new bumper sticker!)
Everywhere we go until Monday, we'll be taking Marshmallow and Candy with us, taking pictures and documenting our travels in a composition book for the next child to explore. Who knows what kind of adventures we'll be able to cook up? I tried to make them comfortable in our home, tucking them in for bed with Little Nutbrown Hare
under Shae's blankie. Hopefully they got plenty of rest last night.
Because it's supposed to be a nice weekend, and Hurricane Shae has gotten a hold of them, and who knows what might happen now.
Wish them luck. Wish us all luck. And buckle up: it's going to be a kee-RAY-zee ride.
