Friday Night Pizza Party

On Fridays we normally have some kind of take-out for dinner, usually Chinese or pizza. When we get pizza, we've been getting one of those take-and-bake ones from our Wegmans, because they're good, but yesterday they didn't have what we were looking for so we got the supplies to make our own.

Step One: Start with a medium (12") whole wheat pizza crust or bread shell. For quality assurance, let the sous chef take chunks out of the edge of the crust while the executive chef is in the kitchen prepping the toppings.

Step Two: Cover crust with pizza sauce to taste.

Step Three: Adjust seasonings as necessary.

Step Four: Add shredded cheese, being careful to get as much cheese as possible on the crust and not on the table.

Step Five: Add toppings. For this pizza, we used chopped hard salami. We wanted a little meat, but pepperoni gives the executive chef and her business partner heartburn. Salami had just the right amount of spice but not so much heaviness.

Step Five: Place pizza on a stone that has been preheated to 375°F. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until cheese is melted and browned to your liking.

Step Six: Enjoy with a side salad (or, in a pinch, lettuce and croutons in a bowl with salad dressing -- that's a salad, right?).
